New Archival Research on Andrija Dorotić in the Archdiocesan Archive of Zagreb

Matea Marušić conducted research at the Archdiocesan Archive in Zagreb, focusing on the identification of sources relating to Andrija Dorotić. Particular attention was given to correspondence addressed to the Zagreb archbishop Maksimilijan Vrhovac between 1795 and 1814, as well as to archival fonds containing the archbishop’s diary and numerous other documents written in Croatian, Latin, French, and Italian.

The material examined to date is organised into bundles of correspondence and archival fonds containing the diary. Unfortunately, the bundles of letters addressed to Vrhovac do not include any authored directly by Dorotić himself. However, several letters in which Dorotić is mentioned were identified, as was a copy of a letter written by Napoleon Bonaparte. Among the correspondence authored by Vrhovac, a number of letters written in Italian and French were found.

With regard to the diary, Dorotić is mentioned frequently in the second archival box. The diary also exists in a published edition; its second volume covers the period from 1810 to 1815.
